ReGrain

Board & Grain Lifetime Restoration

Every Piece Has Another Lifetime.

ReGrain is our lifetime restoration program for eligible Board & Grain pieces. It is a commitment to preserving the material, craftsmanship and presence of the objects we create.

ReGrain Lifetime Care by Board and Grain

The Philosophy

Good Design Does Not End When It Begins to Show Wear.

A well-used piece carries evidence of the life lived around it. Knife marks, softened edges and changes in tone are not signs that craftsmanship has failed. They are signs that the object has served its purpose.

ReGrain preserves that history while restoring the surface, structure and finish for the years ahead.

The Transformation

Restored, Not Replaced.

Each eligible piece returns to our studio for a deliberate, hands-on restoration. The surface is renewed without erasing the character that made the piece distinctly yours.

The Studio Process

A Deliberate Return to Form.

Every restoration is completed by hand in New York. The process is adapted to the condition, construction and natural character of the individual piece.

01

Studio Inspection

The piece is evaluated for wear, surface condition and structural integrity before restoration begins.

02

Precision Sanding

Worn finish and surface damage are carefully removed while preserving the original proportions and construction.

03

Surface Refinement

The grain is progressively refined to restore tactile smoothness, clarity and visual depth.

04

Final Conditioning

The piece is conditioned, finished and inspected before returning home ready for its next chapter.

Why We Created ReGrain

Furniture Can Be Refinished. Floors Can Be Refinished. Cabinets Can Be Refinished. We Believed Your Cutting Board Deserved the Same Respect.

ReGrain rejects the idea that a well-used object should eventually become disposable. It extends the relationship between maker, material and owner long after the original purchase.

Designed for Decades.
Restored for Generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Details of Lifetime Care.

01 Which Board & Grain Products Are ReGrain Eligible?

ReGrain is available only for eligible Heritage and Heirloom profile products originally created by Board & Grain. Slimline products are not eligible.

02 Will Restoration Make My Piece Look Completely New?

Restoration renews the surface and finish, but natural variation and some evidence of the piece’s history may remain. ReGrain is intended to preserve character rather than create artificial uniformity.

03 How Do I Begin a Restoration Request?

Contact the Board & Grain Concierge with photographs of the piece, its approximate dimensions and a brief description of its condition. Eligibility and shipping instructions will be confirmed before the piece is sent.

04 How Long Does Restoration Take?

Timing depends on the condition of the piece and the current studio schedule. An estimated turnaround will be provided during the evaluation process.

05 Can Damage Always Be Completely Removed?

Not every mark, stain, crack or structural issue can be fully removed. The studio will review the condition before accepting the restoration and explain what outcome can reasonably be achieved.
